Nottingham Organic Gardeners will be holding its annual Potato Day on Saturday 28th January from 10.30am - 2pm, at the United Reform Church, Edwards Lane, Sherwood, behind the Sherwood Manor pub. More than 40 varieties of seed potato, including unusual and organic varieties, will be on sale by individual tuber, plus onion sets. There will be advice from local gardeners, refreshments including home made cakes, and loads of local gardening enthusiasts to meet up with. Entrance is free to NOGS members, or £1 for non-members. Very little parking at the venue, but it is on Nottingham City purple and lime green bus routes, plus route 40, and Pronto to Mansfield. Transition Sherwood is a group of local people coming together to help our communities become less dependent on fossil fuels, become more resilient, and reduce our impact on the environment. The group started in 2008, with an active group initiating a range of events and projects. This evolved into a smaller group concentrating on two community gardens from 2015.
Updates about local community and environmental events, and national and international climate change and environmental issues are currently shared mainly via our Facebook page.
Transition Sherwood is very pleased to be a member of the Nottingham Growing Network in 2016-17, with funding from the People's Postcode Lottery supporting sharing of skills and resources around a network of growing projects.
The website's title picture is part of a mural in Hood St, Sherwood, painted by local young people in 2008 - signatures below.
