Transition Sherwood's garden at Sherwood Community Centre was awarded its second 'Outstanding' certificate in the 2016 'It's Your Neighbourhood' awards at Nottingham City Hall in November, and the newer Edingley Square garden a 'Thriving' award. Group members Vesse Ashley and Joan Cook are seen here recieving the award, and it was inspiring to see the variety, number and skills of so many other community garden projects and meet some of their gardeners at the event.

Catching up after a long absence...
At Transition Sherwood's AGM in late 2014, Sharing Sherwood became a seperate group, and continues to thrive running monthly meals from food that would otherwise go to waste. While the community food garden was going well and a new garden recently established at Edingley Square, the central coordinating group and other projects had lost energy with members moving on for personal reasons or moving on to other projects and campaigns. It was agreed to amend the constitution to reflect this, and concentrate on the garden projects and keeping up a prescence mainly via Facebook. Swishing Event at Sherwood Library, October 4th
Saturday October 4 10.30am for 11am start-1pm Swish, swish... the sound of browsing through clothes racks - bring your clothes and toys for our autumn "swapping not shopping" event at Sherwood Library. We have a new garden project which coincides with setting up a tenants and residents group for the area. It is an unused patch of land tucked behind the houses, close to the prison. We want to give initial priority to local residents so if you know anyone that might be interested please put them in touch. We have plans for individual plots and shared spaces for vegetables, fruit and flowers. If anyone would like to help please let us know. We also would welcome donations of plants, cuttings, equipment, cardboard, old baths, wheelbarrow etc. etc.

Transition Sherwood is a group of local people coming together to help our communities become less dependent on fossil fuels, become more resilient, and reduce our impact on the environment. The group started in 2008, with an active group initiating a range of events and projects. This evolved into a smaller group concentrating on two community gardens from 2015.
Updates about local community and environmental events, and national and international climate change and environmental issues are currently shared mainly via our Facebook page. Transition Sherwood is very pleased to be a member of the Nottingham Growing Network in 2016-17, with funding from the People's Postcode Lottery supporting sharing of skills and resources around a network of growing projects.
