We have a new garden project which coincides with setting up a tenants and residents group for the area. It is an unused patch of land tucked behind the houses, close to the prison. We want to give initial priority to local residents so if you know anyone that might be interested please put them in touch. We have plans for individual plots and shared spaces for vegetables, fruit and flowers. If anyone would like to help please let us know. We also would welcome donations of plants, cuttings, equipment, cardboard, old baths, wheelbarrow etc. etc.
Transition Sherwood is a group of local people coming together to help our communities become less dependent on fossil fuels, become more resilient, and reduce our impact on the environment. The group started in 2008, with an active group initiating a range of events and projects. This evolved into a smaller group concentrating on two community gardens from 2015.
Updates about local community and environmental events, and national and international climate change and environmental issues are currently shared mainly via our Facebook page.
Transition Sherwood is very pleased to be a member of the Nottingham Growing Network in 2016-17, with funding from the People's Postcode Lottery supporting sharing of skills and resources around a network of growing projects.
The website's title picture is part of a mural in Hood St, Sherwood, painted by local young people in 2008 - signatures below.
