Transition Sherwood

At the end of September, Sherwood Community Centre agreed that the group could go ahead with the community food garden. A small group met at the garden in October, and then met at Sherwood Methodist Church to start  planning in more detail - both the actual garden and how to organise things - and to plan to get on with work that can be done in winter.
 

Some group memberstook part in Nottingham City Council's 'Sherwood: Your Choice, Your Voice' event in October 2009.

The group had a stall at the Sherwood Festival in Woodthorpe Park on 20th June.

The group showed the film  'A Convenient Truth - Urban Solutions from Curitiba, Brazil' at Sherwood Methodist Church, Mansfield Road, at 7.30pm on Thursday 23rd April. 

The film shows how  the city of Curitiba has transformed problems into cost-effective solutions that can be applied in most cities around the world. The documentary
focuses on innovations in transportation, recycling, social benefits including affordable housing, seasonal parks, and the processes that transformed Curitiba into one of the most livable cities in the world.  Uplifting, inspiring - and a good antedote to 'The End of Suburbia'!

The group had a stall at 'The Great Spring Sowing' event at the Arboretum on 22nd March 2009. We were busy all day meeting people and helping visitors to 'sow in what you throw' - planting seeds in trays made of reused household waste - margarine tubs, yogourt pots and all sorts. It was great too to meet up with people from other transition and environmental groups around the Nottingham area and swap news and ideas. More pictures of the event at
